About This Guide
Get clarity on your clear aligners.
A lot of people don’t know there are different Invisalign packages. And even once they do know, they can’t find reliable information online to help them understand their options.
This guide changes that. It’s always up-to-date, plus the details on it come directly from Align Technology – the company that makes Invisalign.
For Teens & Adults:
Very Mild to Mild Cases
Invisalign® Express 5
# of Aligners: 5 Typical Duration: < 6 months Best For: Orthodontic Touch Ups
This is one of the fastest orthodontic treatment options out there. It’s ideal if you just need to touch up past orthodontic work or correct very minor tooth crowding issues.
Invisalign® Express
# of Aligners: 7-10 Typical Duration: 6 months Best For: 1 or 2 minor smile fixes
The main Express treatment is designed for minor aesthetic adjustments. If you have one or a few small alignment issues, it’s an option you’ll want to consider.
For Teens & Adults:
Moderate Cases
Invisalign® Lite
# of Aligners: 14 Typical Duration: 1 year Best For: Fixing several minor issues
When your smile needs crowding or spacing adjustments that are more than mild, but not quite moderate, Invisalign® Lite is the answer.
Invisalign® Go
# of Aligners: 20-26 Typical Duration: 1 year Best For: Quickly realigning front teeth
Looking to quickly realign your front teeth? Then you want Invisalign® Go. It’s made to quickly correct mild to moderate crowding issues in the most visible part of your smile.
Invisalign® Moderate
# of Aligners: 20 Typical Duration: Up to 2 years Best For: Most orthodontic needs
This is the option that most Invisalign wearers receive. It corrects nearly all mild to moderate smile alignment issues like gaps, crookedness, and bite position.
For Teens & Adults:
Severe Cases
Invisalign® Comprehensive
# of Aligners: Unlimited Typical Duration: < 5 years Best For: Difficult realignments
Jaws. Teeth. Forward, backward, up or down. Invisalign® Comprehensive handles the toughest alignment cases and even includes tooth extraction (if needed) and pre-restorative care.
For Children:
Healthy Smile Development
Invisalign® First (Phase 1)
# of Aligners: Unlimited Typical Duration: 18 months Best For: Preventing issues
Applied around the ages of 6-10, it’s used to address moderate to severe orthodontic issues like overcrowding, crossbite, and underbite before they appear.
Invisalign® First (Phase 2)
# of Aligners: Unlimited Typical Duration: > 3 years Best For: Healthy development
Often (but not always) applied after Phase 1 correction, Phase 2 covers the type of orthodontic treatment most children need to develop a healthy, well-aligned smile.

Common Invisalign Package Questions
I often hear people talk about Invisalign Full. Why isn’t that here?
As the lineup of Invisalign options grew, Align Technology (the company behind Invisalign) renamed Invisalign Full as Invisalign Comprehensive.
What’s Invisalign i7?
Like Invisalign Full, Invisalign i7 is an old package name that Align Technology phased out when it introduced Invisalign Express.
Do all Invisalign packages include retainers?
After your Invisalign treatment, you have several retainer options like clear Vivera® retainers, traditional removable retainers, and permanently bonded retainers. We bill these separately so you can pick the retainer that works best for your comfort and lifestyle needs.
